Google Ads come to the rescue when we want to highlight our product or service online among thousands of similar ones. Ads can be displayed in the Google search engine as sponsored links or in the Google Display Network as videos, apps, or websites.
Where to start your journey with Google Ads and why it’s worth your attention? Find out in today’s guide!
How Do Google Ads Work?
Many stores and service companies have already moved or plan to move their business online in the near future. This is where customers look for information about products and services, compare prices, and search for the best deals. To attract their attention, you need to choose the right promotion channel. One tool with an exceptionally wide reach is Google Ads. It allows you to run text, graphic, and video ads.
Google Ads complement efforts to improve your website’s organic search ranking and together help generate valuable traffic to your site. Publishing an ad itself does not incur any charges—you only pay when a potential customer clicks on your link. There are two billing methods for ad campaigns: CPC (cost per click), which measures ad effectiveness, and CPM (cost per mille), which is the fee for every thousand viewers reached by the ad.
Google Ads appear directly in Google’s search engine results—they are marked with a green label reading “ad” and are displayed at the very top and bottom of the search results page. Between them, you will find regular organic results. Google Ads also include ads on YouTube and Google Sponsored Promotions campaigns aimed at Gmail users. These ads appear at the top of the inbox and in the “promotions” tab, presented in a format similar to newsletters.
Benefits of Using Google Ads
Well-prepared Google Ads deliver quick results and help you compete with larger websites in your industry that have significantly bigger budgets for SEO and SEM activities. The advertising system itself suggests keywords that generate the best revenue in your field. You can use these keywords to improve the content on your website or plan your next posts on the company blog. Most importantly, the results of Google Ads campaigns are easy to measure. You can easily identify which keywords convert best and in the future allocate your budget only to those that truly generate income.
Because Google is the most popular search engine in Poland and Europe, you can precisely define your target audience. You decide whether you want to focus on local customers or operate globally—reaching people genuinely interested in the topics you advertise. You can specify the age range of your potential customers, their gender, family status, expected income, and even target your ads to specific devices, such as smartphones.
By using Google Ads, you avoid blind searching. Strategic use of remarketing lets you see which users visited your site and what actions they took. The decision to purchase a product or service often takes time—customers compare prices, look for reviews, and discuss purchases with their close ones. Remarketing within Google Ads encourages them to return to your site.
How to Create a Google Ads Campaign?
Google Ads allows you to create graphic ads, but for those just starting out, we recommend beginning with text ads. Start by creating a Google Ads account at ads.google.com. Select the “new ad” tab and choose the “text ad” option. The most visible part of the ad is the headline. It should clearly describe your company or the product/service you offer and must not exceed 25 characters including spaces. The ad text consists of 2 lines, each up to 35 characters. It should describe the offer and include a “call to action” encouraging purchase or site visit. Next, choose the displayed URL—the company’s link that potential customers will see—and the destination URL, which is the address users will be directed to after clicking your ad.
It’s clear that Google Ads require fitting a lot of information into a limited number of characters, so think carefully about what you want to offer future clients. Focus on what makes your product or service stand out, using keywords that help indexing bots direct the ad to the right audience. Emphasize aspects such as free shipping, seasonal sales, expert reviews, or support for the local community.
There is no single universal way to create a good ad. You’ll find the best solutions by experimenting and monitoring your campaign results. It’s definitely worth the effort—a well-managed Google Ads campaign can help you gain new customers and increase your website’s visibility. And you’ll see the results almost immediately!
