By utilizing the Google Display Network, we secure advertising space on the largest websites and mobile applications. This allows us to reach a broader audience – presenting our offer to people searching for products and services beyond just search engines.
Ad Targeting in the Google Display Network
The Google Display Network enables precise ad targeting. The network analyzes users’ online activities and cookies, then builds profiles of their shopping habits and decisions – allowing us to accurately define the audience group we want to reach with our message.
First, we should select the most suitable ad format for our needs. The Google Display Network supports 4 types of ads:
- Responsive – these ads allow the addition of multiple texts, images, and logos. They adapt the layout to the publisher’s website.
- Image – these are ads in the form of images or HTML5 files.
- Engaging – video ads displayed on YouTube.
- Gmail ads – messages delivered directly to users’ inboxes.
Choosing the Audience for Google Display Network Ads
Depending on our goals and objectives, we can create a campaign focused on brand awareness or sales conversion. In the Adwords panel, we can select one of two audience groups: Similar Audiences and In-Market Audiences. Similar Audiences are assigned based on users’ long-term online activity. In-Market Audiences consist of people who have previously searched for a particular product or service. If you know which websites your customers likely use, you can target your content to specific portals.
Google ads can also be targeted thematically. In this case, ads will appear on websites related to the chosen topic, such as technology, fashion, finance, or healthy food. Ads can also be targeted using keywords. They will be shown to users browsing websites who have entered selected keywords.
The Google Display Network allows reaching even users with very narrow interests. However, for a campaign to be effective, it requires careful attention and precise selection of key audience groups.
